Got something a bit different here for you guys this time, This is a blast from the past for me because they had loads of these funny little tub vacs at my school when I was really little and i’ve wanted one ever since.
Its a Premiere 175 Mini made by Premiere Products in Cheltenham UK. Originally introduced in 1975, they have had an amazingly long production run and have remained pretty much unchanged since the original model.
They’re not the most well known commercial vacuum compared to Numatic or Nilfisk, but people in the know, know how fantastic they are. They’re superbly robust and well built and will often last 20+ years of hard work. The current model has a lifetime guarantee! Its made out of chrome and enamel which makes it a little bit heavy compared to a plastic vac.
Its powered by a heavy duty 850w LAMB motor. I saved this particular one from the scrapheap and is about halfway complete, i’ve got it working but it needs a good clean and a few last minute tweaks to make it A1. Still waiting for the parts to arrive from the factory.
Its a strange design and looks a bit like a dustbin, its quite like a Hoover Constellation in the way that it has its motor in the base rather than the top like most tub vacs. It can be used bagged or bagless and has a cloth filter. Most were used bagless. Not sure of the exact age but its probably from about 1980. But overall its a great little machine and fun to use. Incidently, there was a bigger version of the Mini 175 called the Maxi 275 which identical to the mini but a bit bigger.
